(Jesuit) Catholic universities - a total disgrace

Found by Rod Dreher.

Would the last Catholic left at Georgetown University please bring the Blessed Sacrament when you leave?

It's "Sex Positivity" week at the Jesuit (of course) school, where you might want to make time on your schedule tomorrow night to go to this:

Tuesday Feb 24, 8:00, Reiss 262: TORN ABOUT PORN?

This event will is important to open dialogue around pornography and how it affects our lives. It is important to be open to discussion about arguably alternative forms of pornography that are not supposed to be exploitative, but rather radical and empowering. The question of the day: Can pornography be sex positive?

Contemplating empowering pornography: where would we be without Jesuit education?

Got nothing better to do on Saturday night? Well, if you didn't get enough of porn director Tristan Taormino's "Anal Pleasure 101" lecture the day before at a DC hotel, you can catch her that night at Georgetown, appearing with a friend as part of SexPo week.:

Saturday, February 28, 7:00 pm Washington DC

JENNY BLOCK & TRISTAN TAORMINO OPEN IT UP

Jenny Block reads from her memoir Open: Love, Sex, and Life in an Open Marriage and Tristan Taormino reads from her book Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships. Their readings will be followed by a question & answer and discussion about monogamy, non-monogamy, and the state of love and relationships today. This event is co-sponsored by Georgetown University Pride as part of their Sex Positive Week and by Whole DC.

Location: ICC 115, Georgetown University, Washington DC

That's just what you want on a Catholic campus: a porn director and anal-sex instructor coming to campus to talk to undergraduates about how they can find happiness through having sex outside of marriage.

Below, the full advertisement for the SexPo week's upcoming events. What a disgrace to Georgetown, and a rebuke to any pretense that it has anything seriously to do with Roman Catholic moral teaching. The people pushing this garbage are the enemy, front and center. As outrageous as this is on its face, I do wonder what the university's president and trustees think about themselves and their mission. Do they really believe they are being remotely faithful to the school's mission by allowing a pornographer to give a presentation about open marriages on campus? A priest I know once told me that every priest should serve keeping front and center that one day, he will have to give an account to God of the souls of all those under his care. Do you think such a thought ever comes within a hundred miles of the minds of the clerics and laymen who have responsibility for Georgetown University and the formation of the minds and characters of the students who pass through there? Please.

See, this is why a number of Catholics I know would just as soon send their kids to state school: there's no pretense that they're getting a Catholic education in a Catholic environment. Read on...
